Having been a photographer serving the Hill Country and Austin, TX area for over a decade and for having my own Senior photos taken a few decades ago in a painful sequins jacket (I'm not even lying here!) I suggest the following 5 tips to enjoying and loving your Senior photo experience!
1. Keep It Natural and Have Fun ~ Don’t stress about posing perfectly. Think of it like hanging out with a friend—relax, laugh, and be yourself. Your best photos happen when you’re comfortable and genuine.
2. Choose Outfits You Love and Feel Good In ~ Pick clothes that fit well and show off your style without being too busy or distracting. Avoid large logos or super bright patterns that might take attention away from your face. Bring a couple of outfit options so you can switch things up!
3. Plan for the Location and Weather ~ Check the weather forecast ahead of time and dress accordingly. If it’s outdoors, bring layers or accessories that fit the setting. Being prepared helps you stay comfortable and confident.
4. Prep Your Hair and Makeup ~ Do your hair and makeup the way you like it, but don’t overdo it—natural looks usually photograph best. If you’re hiring a pro, have a quick chat with them about the look you want. Practice your hairstyle beforehand so you feel ready.
5. Communicate with Your Photographer ~ Share your ideas, favorite looks, or any worries you have before and during the shoot. Your photographer is there to help you shine, so the more they know about your style and vision, the better the photos will turn out!
The booking season is now open for Class of 2026 Seniors - I can't recommend enough to book in the summer no matter when you want to shoot so you will know for sure your spot is saved and you’re ready to record you Senior memories!
